I welcome students of all ages from five years and up. My teaching experience began over 20 years ago when I taught voice lessons to several of the choir students at Choctaw High School. I am passionate about music and about helping find the unique approach for each student. Music Theory is the language of music and I focus a portion of each lesson learning that language. We learn to speak through trial and error having no wrong words and music should be taught in a similar fashion, where there are no wrong notes. Voice Lessons: I start my lessons with vocal warmups and excercises to help strengthen and develop a students vocal abilities. After vocalizing, I begin working on the repertoire that I have assigned the prior week. The songs that each student will sing will depend on what style he/she may be interested in performing or studying. I always choose age appropriate material, and a piece that the student will enjoy. I base my teaching out of the Schroeder Violoncello Methods for all ages along with the Schroeder 170 cello studes. Along with that I pick pieces that the student will find enjoyable as a means to keep them encouraged. Usually I introduce traditional classical repertoire at the beginning of their second year as the student is usually more comfortable with the instrument at that point. Read More

Their goal becomes my goal and it gives me great satisfaction to help them gain the musical and instrumental skills they need to reach their goal, whatever that may be. I base my teaching methods on the student I am teaching. For students that are children at a beginner level, I typically begin with the essential elements of creating vocal foundation which I draw from many sources. Once we have set a good foundation, we tend to begin working on repertoire that is appropriate for the level at which they are singing, using those songs as learning opportunities. For adults, I begin by asking about the goals of the individual student and I then formulate a strategy to help the student reach their specific singing goals. Read More
