Piano Lessons in Walled Lake, MI

Instruments: Piano

"To be inspired is great, TO INSPIRE is incredible." I love to inspire children and it gives me a great pleasure when they improve and do well. I started playing piano at a young age. My teacher was a very good pianist but a poor educator. Five years later I  found a new, wonderful teacher who inspired me to learn. I am grateful for her and her passion and I hope to give that knowledge to my students. Read More

I excel at taking the most self-motivated students to the highest level, and I don't hold anyone back in order to stay with a pre-determined method. All students learn to count the beat in a FUN and entertaining way. I save the last few minutes of every lesson for "musical games", which are usually ear training. All of my students, even young children, can name strings, notes, and even chords by ear, all from playing this game. Read More

Instruments: Piano Trumpet

For beginner students, I would definitely use Hal Leonards Essential Elements for trumpet (Books 1-4). It is always best for new students to start with identifying the notes and the rhythms, along with learning some fundamental exercises to fully master the trumpet. For more advanced/intermediate students (7th or 8th grade), I would start by giving out solo pieces to better prepare for solo and ensemble competitions, all the way till their final year at high school. I believe that in order to effectively teach, one must also do. My extensive performance background allows me to read a student to see what their goals might be and custom fit a curriculum around them. Sometimes a method book is the right way to go. Books such as the Alfred series and Hal Leonard often offer easily attainable goals for younger students. However, it is always important to listen to one's students to find out what music makes them passionate and make sure to weave that into the practice of good technique, and theory. Read More

Instruments: Piano Oboe Bassoon

I'm very friendly and patient. Learning music should be enjoyable, and never a burden. My students learn at their own pace and have fun doing it. I'm happy to work with youngters, providing they have a basic grasp of letters and numbers. Older beginners are some of my favorites, those who may have always wanted to learn and never had time before. It's never too early or late to bring music into your life, as it helps with concentration, dexterity, and relaxation! Read More

I am passionate about my students and about music. From the outset of working with music students I emphasize the importance of good posture and handling of their instrument, good breathing technique, good embouchure, and regular practice in order to develop strong embouchure and technique and knowledge of their instrument. I love teaching! Whether it is music, dance, math, or anything else I may find myself teaching, I give my all to my students. Read More
