I set realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I like to demonstrate how to play- usually I count while the student plays, which helps with the beats. We may sing together or separate the note names or the song words. Every music phase requires different input. Students who struggle with note reading, get additional note reading and writing books. I also received a full scholarship to attend the Rubin Institute for Music Criticism. I earned my Masters of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of California, Irvine at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts where I sang the National Anthem for President Barack Obama at the school’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. For many of my beginning students who are children, I start with Faber's piano adventures. I use a mixture of method books, repetoire, and my own theory exercises until students can grasp solo repetoire. I also help students compose their own music, which we have fun doing! I also attended Five Towns College and studied Jazz / Commercial music. I started performing in groups at age 20. I worked with original acts and a variety of cover bands . I am a diverse musician and has played everything from heavy metal, hard-rock, pop-rock, funk, pop, mow town and classical music. She infuses her classical training with all of these styles.
