Instruments: Piano Violin
My teaching experience dates back to high school, when I began giving private violin and piano lessons part time 8 years ago. Since that time I've continued to teach in the Puyallup area as well as in Bellingham and Mt Vernon. Ive used many teaching models over the years on students of all ages from very diverse backgrounds. I did most of this through trial and error; learning that very young children do best with short structured and repetative lessons, while teenagers can benefit more from targeted lessons that switch focus every week, and what to do when a student struggles because of stress in their home. I am a 24 year old bassist who enjoys sharing my musical passion with others. I have studied the electric bass and the upright bass while attending Whitman college, focusing mostly on Jazz. I currently live in Brooklyn and play with my band, The Dogs. I've played on six records over the last two years including one that was named the fourth best free album of 2011. Read More

I've been teaching for over forty years. Many of my students have been successful in various auditions and life in general. There are many factors that enter into that, and I am happy to be one of those factors that helped them on their way. Read More

I am primarily a percussionist, with over 10 years of expierience playing and performing in jazz bands, marching bands, musical theatre, small ensembles, wind ensembles, and symphonies, and I was the principle percussionist for 2 years while I was in college. I also have 5 years of expierience on the trumpet, 15 years of guitar, as well as expierience with many other instruments. I love to perform as well as teach, and I believe that classical and contemporary do not have to be at odds, and I work hard to incorporate both into my own performances as well as when I teach. I'm cranky, strict, and impatient. Just Kidding! Contrary to many stereotypical views of old-style piano teachers, I try to stay upbeat, fresh, and FUN! I feel successful if my students are progressing, if they have fun, and I can motivate them. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I am a recent graduate of Seattle Pacific University and happily teaching in the Seattle area from my Magnolia home and in surrounding student's homes as well. I enjoy performing and teaching, and strive to give my students the best music lessons I can give supplemented by great recitals and performance opportunities. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Trombone
For beginning brass players I generally start out with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements series of books. After going through that, with some other material on the side, such as performance pieces, etc, they would progress to the Arban book (at around high school age for the student who began in sixth grade, as I did). For piano, I much prefer starting out with basic fundamentals, but not to any specific method, in contrast to brass. Read More
