I began piano lessons in the 2nd grade, and studied flute and guitar, and finally settled on playing French Horn in High School. I took lessons from a horn player in the Detroit Symphony. I majored in French horn and orchestral conducting at the Rubin Academy in Tel-Aviv, Israel, and completed my Undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. I like to use various method books since I believe every single one of them provide different pedagogical aspects. Depending on the style, genre that the student wants to learn, I make sure they have enough resources to practice themselves in their own home. For children, I try to keep it as light and fun so they won't burnout over the long journey of learning music. For teenagers and young adults I like to show the possibilities of the instrument and where they can be with persistence and for adults I'd like to guide and help them to find what they like the most and enjoy learning and playing. I take the great things about the Suzuki Method and use them (fun, creativity, by-ear learning, group jams). Then I take the things I don't like about the method and disregard them (pre-established repetoire, no composition or improv). I teach kids how to concentrate, how to teach themselves, how to ignore distractions, and the philosophy for joyful performance without nervousness.
