Instruments: Piano Guitar Keyboard

For a typical lesson Ill teach half basics and theory and the other half songs or anything the students interested in. I am adamant that the student's are practicing at least 30 mins a day. For guitar I strongly recommend using Hal Leonards Guitar method books even if were only working out of it for a quarter of the lesson. For piano I recommend a Hal Leonard book without question. I do pass some handouts of pieces, exercises, etc that I feel are worthy for the student. Read More

Instruments: Piano Keyboard

I was born in New Bedford, MA to a musical family. I began piano study at age six and eventually decided to seek a degree in music, with an emphasis in piano performance. My love for the instrument is as a teacher, and it is that love for teaching that brought me to be a classroom teacher of general music for ten years. I have served as a church musician, both at the pipe organ and the piano, and I have also been a choral accompanist for college and community ensembles. Read More

I have given piano lessons on and off as early as ten years ago when I was first starting my undergraduate studies. Through my time at Mansfield University, I studied piano and developed my skills to an advanced level. My studies in Music Theory and Composition at Binghamton University have also aided in my composing skills. My time teaching and accompanying choirs at Binghamton University have given me even more experience in teaching students of differing ages. Read More

For beginner students, I love the Faber primer or Alfred Beginner. Once the students have learned the basics, I play for them several pieces they would want to play for the next recital coming up so they can have an idea of what they like. For Intermediate players, I love the Dozen a Day collection, Hanon, and Alfred books. For teenagers and adults I really want to know specifically the type of music they love and want to play whether it be classical, jazz, pop, RB, etc. Read More

I have certain methods that are useful from beginners to advanced students. I always meet a student where they are at and then guide them to gain the skills that they require for the goals they want to achieve. I don't subscribe to the notion that one MUST read music to play music - that is not how most of the world works, but I am a large advocate of being literate. Read More

I believe that there is no "cookie-cutter" way to teach music. It is a very creative art-form which calls for room for creativity. My teaching experience dates back to the early 2000s, I began teaching private lessons part time. In 2009, I began teaching for a local performing arts school full-time. Among the accomplishments of my prior students, I have 3 who have graduated and attended Berkeley School of Music in Boston, 1 graduated from New York Film Academy and is working off Broadway, 1 who graduated from Pace University then went on to perform on Broadway and now is performing along side Rod Stewart, I have 2 who are now teaching music, and a number of others who are in college, have graduated, or are recording, writing and/or performing nationally and internationally. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm.
