I am a lover of music that has always enjoyed sharing it with others. I have been involved in musical activities all through since grade school. I graduated with a Master of Music Arts with a specialty in teaching from Texas Woman's University so I could better share my love of music. I have also been in one choir or another over the years. Depending on my student's age and skill level I usually have them begin with Suzuki books, Essential Elements books, or a combination of the two. As students advance I often incorporate etudes and/or exercises by Lee, Dotzauer, Galamian, Mooney, Sevcik, Duport, and Popper. To all of my students, I will treat them with kindness and honesty. Honesty is important as a teacher because my goal is to help students find where they can grow and show them ways to do so. For beginning students, I usually start with the Faber Piano Adventures series. We also work on long-term pieces for festivals and recitals throughout the year if they are interested in playing for those. I strongly encourage them to participate in these, helping them to feel confident and secure in these performances. During my senior year at university, I had the opportunity to serve as a faculty member for my university's pre-college music program.
