Instruments: Piano Trumpet
My master's degree in trumpet performance at the University of Denver included a teaching assistantship: I taught trumpet lessons, coached brass quintets, trumpet ensembles, and more. I had a private studio in Denver and again in Cleveland, where I was before relocating to DC. In Cleveland I taught full-time and ended up with over fifty private students. My students there received such honors as entrance into the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and Youth Wind Symphonies. Read More

I am a professional pianist and a passionate teacher over 20 years. I began my music study at age 4 and studied throughout the world, a Music Bachelor degree in South Korea, a Master in Germany, an Artist Diploma in France and currently a doctor of musical arts candidate in George Mason University. I have been teaching students of all ages in various countries for several decades from South Korea, Germany, France and the United States. Read More
Instruments: Piano
My teaching methods vary depending on the student's needs and musical knowledge. Normally starting with general repertoire before expanding into different genres in order to obtain a feel for each person's skill or level of understanding. If they are younger, I tend to lean towards the more conventional approach with the Bastien Piano Basics or Piano Adventures for them to grow in the fundamentals. I have found that the more interest they display for piano, the more excited they become about exploring different styles of music. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time for school years, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 17 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I have started teaching shortly before college, and have a proven track record of working as an independent instructor and part of teaching collectives. I am a member in good standing with both MTNA and MSMTA, and have been consistently teaching students out of my home studio for the past 15 years. With younger students, I prefer emphasizing habit formation, such as setting a practice schedule, regularly committing to a set amount of practicing time, and develop a passion for the piano. While in his Master Combo Class, a sax player in the group happened to mention that the big band he played in had an opening for piano player. And so, in 2007, I officially joined the Reisterstown Jazz Ensemble, a seat I held until 2011. Since then, I have also been fortunate to play in restaurants and hotels in the Baltimore area. All these experiences I feel have aided me in say way, shape, or form. Read More
