I began teaching privately as a high school student, working with begnning students at the middle school. I have taught privately in my home and in students' homes since graduating from college. Regular practice is very important and something I emphasize with my students. I like to include a mixture of classical and modern music in my lessons, so that students enjoy what they are learning and playing. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. For beginning students, I typically start with Piano Adventures.  Advanced beginners usually have other excellent methods such as Bastien, Schuam, or Alfred, and I use any method which is acceptable.  Adults, or more advanced students, usually have a particular interest in a certain style of music or keyboard skill which I help cultivate.  Though nothing matches the sound, subtlety and feel of an acoustic - the essence of the art of the classical tradition - I encourage students to use MIDI-aided learning tools to develop their sight-reading skills. I am an enthusiastic and compassionate instructor who loves to share my musical knowledge with those eager and willing to learn. I received a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Cleveland State University in 2018 and became a board-certified music therapist in January of 2019. With this degree and profession comes the knowledge and skillset of numerous instruments, including voice (my primary instrument), guitar, piano, and ukulele.
