Instruments: Piano Voice
I'm a energetic, thought-provoking, and creative voice/piano teacher who loves working with students of all ages and loves to help them grow and develop their technique. Just shy of last year, 2015, I graduated from LIU Post University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education K-12 graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.8 average. I've performed in famous venues such as Carnegie Hall multiple times. I've also had the fortune to travel and perform in places such as Bay View, MI, Costa Rica and Ireland. Read More
Instruments: Piano Organ Keyboard
My approach to teaching is, basically, that playing piano should be enjoyable and fun so I tailor the lessons to the type of music in which the student has interest. I do, however, have a basic structure that includes reading music, finger dexterity and songs at the student's playing level. If there is an interest in contemporary music I have an "easy to learn" approach to chords and accompaniments. I also give lessons in music composition. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I am a performing instructor who loves teaching students of all ages piano and voice. I am also a recent graduate of Temple University and the Eastman School of Music in Voice Performance. My passion is German opera and art song, but my roots are in choral music. When I am not gigging or teaching, I am singing beautiful choral music at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. This summer, I will have the opportunity to sing choral music at St. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I should start off by saying each student is unique, and since the lessons are one on one, my approach to each student will be unique. That being said, there are certain skill-sets and areas of focus that every student should learn. For complete beginners, I start off with technique. What is good posture? What is good hand position? How do you form a proper embouchure and produce a supported airstream? Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet Accordion
I typically start woodwind students with the Standard of Excellence Comprehensive Band Method series. I like to use the Faber Piano Adventures Series or the Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course for piano instruction. In addition to the method book, I like to incorporate physical/breathing exercises, supplemental warm-ups, sight-reading, music theory worksheets, and student selected repertoire in lessons. I also encourage students to create their own compositions. In the past, I have digitally recorded many of my students' compositions and have really enjoyed encouraging students to express themselves through original composition. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Keyboard
I am a lover for music who is passionate about teaching and spreading knowledge about music. In 2012, I enrolled to Benedict College where I majored in music and became a section leader my second semester of the concert choir. Throughout my college career I was always open to tutoring those who struggled with music or just simply wanted to learn more about it. I've performed for many different events on and off the college campus. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Latin Percussion
When teaching a novice student the drums it is extremely important to note that learning the drums is not an overnight affair. The amount of practice needed for thorough syncopation is not to be slept on. HOWEVER, I genuinely believe once a student hits that learning curve where their arms and legs have "minds of their own" there is an infinite amount of progress that can be made after. I always say music is fun and it should always be whether the student is practicing rudiments, or legitimately playing to pieces from Glen Miller's Orchestra all the way up to Michael Jackson.
