I'm an engaging and passionate classical pianist who began playing at age 4. I studied under Ingrid Clarfield throughout my early years, then continued my training under Robert Shannon at Oberlin College & Conservatory, where I completed a dual-degree program in Classical Piano Performance and Psychology. I've performed at Carnegie Hall and collaborated with elite musicians from around the world. My background in both music and psychology gives me a unique perspective on the emotional and cognitive aspects of learning and performing.
I have extensive experience providing one-on-one instruction to students ages 5 to 20, across all skill levels. My teaching approach is shaped by years of mentorship from world-class instructors as well as my academic background in psychology, allowing me to tailor lessons to each student’s unique needs. One of my most meaningful experiences was working with an autistic student, whom I coached for major performances—including a solo appearance at the Miss America Beauty Pageant. I believe in fostering a supportive, patient, and inspiring environment where every student can build both confidence and a deep appreciation for music. Whether you're just starting out or preparing for a performance, I’m here to help you grow with care and intention.
My teaching methods are highly individualized and responsive to each student’s goals and learning style. I believe that effective teaching begins with understanding the person in front of me—whether they’re aiming to strengthen their technique, deepen their musicality, learn music theory, master the basics, or prepare for competitions. From there, we collaborate to create a personalized plan that’s both motivating and structured. I’m committed to meeting students where they are and guiding them toward their goals with patience and encouragement.
My teaching goals center around truly getting to know each student and tailoring lessons to fit their unique personality, interests, and learning style. I believe in setting clear and manageable priorities for each week so students leave lessons with a focused sense of direction. I acknowledging accomplishments and effort. I also try to keep motivation high by finding creative and personalized ways to incentivize progress and help students build consistent practice habits—when when it feels boring!
