In addition to teaching in the public schools, Mr. Jesse W. has been playing guitar and bass professionally in the local funk band Tha Funkahol-x, and has performed for audiences with George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars. In undergraduate school, he studied composition and arrangement with Ricky Ford, internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist, at Brandeis, and performed in the Brandeis Jazz Ensemble under his direction. I'm most comfortable working with beginner to intermediate students, ages 7-11. Initially, I will provide my students with an assessment to learn more about the student's interest and performance level. Subsequently, based upon the assessment results, I will provide my students with a series of warm-up exercises designed to support proper posture, breathing and the overall handling of their respective instrument for every session .
