I have my students provide me with a list of artist or bands that they enjoy listening to as well as songs from those artists that they are interested in learning. Videos and recordings give the student the opportunity to do self-evaluation with great detail and accuracy, improving their ability to grow into independent musicians. I have used many of the pedagogy books, and I know how to find best curriculum for getting students to where they need to be technically and musically.
