I also am a strong believer in technique. All of my vocal students will be working on breathing technique. When you are a vocalist, your body is your instrument, and you must know how to produce sound correctly and healthily in order to be as successful as possible. As an educator I aim to introduce my students to skills that may be applied to life outside the practice room. I teach them to communicate, build confidence, and most importantly, develop patience. In 2013 I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a master's degree in saxophone performance. Prior to this, in 2011, I graduated from the University of Calgary with a bachelor's degree in the same field. My first teaching experience was my junior year of high school where I got up every Friday morning before school to teach a 6th grade clarinetist who needed some extra instruction as she was blind. I have had performance experience in a wide array of ensembles from concert band, symphony orchestra, steel band, to brass choir and beyond.
