I have taught private music lessons, since I was at Youngstown State University. I also assisted marching band camps over the summer time, at various high schools. I continue teaching private music lessons, to this day at my current job and online. I have recently taught, clarinet, piano, saxophone, violin, trumpet, trombone, as well as music recording online and in person. I was employed at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ - Minneapolis during this time as a tenor section leader and soloist, and assisted with directing the bell choir with fellow musicians Adam Conrad, Michael Vasich and Tanner VanderKrabben. As a post-graduate I accepted a teaching position with Cyber Village Academy in St Paull, Minnesota, teaching K-12 general music. Being an independent artist myself and having to wear many different hats, I understand the importance of curiosity and versatility. I approach every student differently as each student is a different person with a different background who holds their own unique interests and mode of learning. I don't see any reason why a student shouldn't be refining their songwriting chops while also brushing up on classical piano skills or why a jazz trumpet student shouldn't feel empowered to learn the art of recording and producing. The clarinet lessons are personalized because each student has different strengths and weaknesses. The important thing is to strengthen the foundations and enhance the qualities of every student. As a teacher, he has successfully mentored numerous students over the years, many of whom have gone on to complete university degrees in clarinet and composition. For kids I find that having a large quantity of music to learn at each level gives more variety and sense of achievement, so I usually recommend beginning students have multiple books to aid in learning. For example a young piano student will study from lesson, theory, performance, and technique books each week. This yields a well-rounded student who is proud of their achievements and eager to move forward. For adults I recommend a lesson/theory combination book at least to help with reading music. Read More
