I'm a very dedicated instructor who loves working with my students. And I learn as much from them as they do from me, which enhances my ability to teach. In 1966 I graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Il, where I been a full scholarship applied clarinet major. Earlier, I was a charter member of School Band of America-European concert tour. I feel that it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals and assignments for my students at each lesson. This measurable progression of accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Of course finding out the students problem areas is also paramount to helping them progress at the fastest rate possible. I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I also worked as a clinician at the UAB Jazz Summit. Many of my students have gone on to play professionally and a few have gone on to become music teachers themselves.
