Music Lessons in Wilson, NY

I started teaching a year ago with mainly students who were beginners or advanced beginners! It was definitely a challenge at first due to the fact I was never taught how to teach. I like to have a nice blend between two general areas of study with my students.  I ideally like to spend half of the lesson time focusing on the more academic side of things and the other half on just playing tunes.  Academic material would include things like sight-reading and basic music theory to truly educate my student about music while playing tunes (of the student's choosing) is a way to make it more of a fun environment.  I feel that having this balance will alow me to train my students with a proper education while still being relaxed and having fun. For students of any level, I tend to always focus on mastering breathing and classical technique. I believe that it is imperative that students develop this way as it is fundamental to any true vocalist. My methods are quite particular to the individual and their natural strengths and weaknesses, but I approach every student with a tried and true structure that leads to fast and noticeable results. I also tend to use written material lending to the classical technique as a way to standardize practice times to structure individual progress outside of lesson time. Read More

I’ve performed in many recitals both as a soloist and in ensemble, and have played in the masterclasses of many great guitarists such as the Castellani-Andriaccio Duo, Tom Torrisi, Thomas Viloteau, Xavier Jara, and Leo Brouwer.
