Instruments: Clarinet
How do I teach? Weekly lessons (in-person or virtual) motivate the student and give them a chance to perform every week Student plays their assigned repertoire and I will often ask them to critique themselves to become active and critical thinkers and diagnosticians I'll share what I think the student can work on and we'll work on the repertoire together in the lesson I always have my clarinet out and will play with and for them when needed I send follow-up lesson notes and occasional resources The repertoire I assign is meant to challenge and excite the student as it lies just at the edge of their comfort zone but within their capabilities with a little practice I aim to always provide honest and helpful feedback Read More
Instruments: Trombone Bass Guitar
I have found my way through music primarily as an instrumentalist, though I have enjoyed being able to stretch my talents into both teaching and writing. While studying Jazz at the University of Central Missouri, I was able to pick up a wide range of experiences with concert and classical playing. I had the opportunities to perform multiple times with various musicals on campus as well, on a small range of instruments. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I've been teaching private lessons for about 5 years, beginning during my undergrad studies. It has been extremely rewarding to have the opportunity to share my knowledge about healthy singing and making music with others. I have experience with a range of ages and voice types, and am trained in vocal pedagogy. As my students have been interested in many different musical styles, I have been able to apply my knowledge across genres. Read More

For beginning students, in their early twenties, I typically start by making a proper tone and learn how natural it can be. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of certain fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their performance career. As they progress, I try to find out, mutually, find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability. I'm a pianist, keyboardist, and singer-songwriter. I'm originally from St. Louis, MO, and I moved to Chicago in 2008 to pursue a degree and career in music. In 2013, I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, specializing in popular styles of music such as rock, blues, and pop. That same year I became a full time member of The Nick Moss Band, a blues/rock/jam band based in Chicago. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I am an experienced classically trained Pianist who has been playing since the 3rd grade. I enjoy all styles of music and love sharing that enjoyment with my students. I have certification from the State of Missouri that I am proficient in educating beginning Piano students and have continued to expand my knowledge through my participation with local musicians’ groups. I am also working on expanding my instrumental abilities through perfecting my percussion skills and learning guitar. At this time, I do work a morning part time job but am looking to expand my teaching schedule so this is no longer necessary. Read More
