In 2021, I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with my Bachelor's in Music Education (EC-12). While I was there, I performed with the premier ensembles such as the UTA Jazz Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and the UTA Symphony Orchestra. I will first understand what direction the student wants to go musically, whether it be playing chords and singing or being entirely a solo guitarist. From there we can understand what style they want to be playing as I would encourage having a basic understanding of all musical styles. I have also worked for a school district as a Substitute Teacher where I had the opportunity to teach a variety of subjects and work with a multitude of students. For my beginner saxophone students we will start by assembling the instrument and using the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to learn the basic fingerings and songs. As for my beginner piano students we will start off with the Faber Piano Adventures book and work our way through the lessons. Once the student becomes more comfortable with their instruments we will start introducing appropriate solo repertoire and find songs that the individual student would enjoy learning. Read More

As I alluded to previously, I lean much more towards the traditional end of the spectrum in regards to teaching. That being said, I also make a concerted effort to make my piano lessons fun and engaging for the student. I have had the great fortune of getting to study the piano under some really kind and inspiring people, and I try to emulate them the best I can.
