My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my school studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I stated playing the Flute and Violin when I was 9 years old and have been involved in music ever since. I went on to participate in any music class I could take during high school including Concert band, Jazz band, Marching band, Drum-line, and Orchestra. I decided to use pursue a degree in music education to help future students develop their talent for music. My methods vary with the age of the student. For beginners who are children, I usually start with Alfred's Basic Piano Library, which I try to go through most of that series. During that time, the children will occasionally play anything they wish to play that is interesting or fun to them. I believe teaching in music in an art that requires as much dedication and preparation as performing. When I teach, I dont force a certain technique or method on students, but rather I teach what is best suited for them. On top of that, I always motivate my students with adequate goals. Most importantly, I will make sure my students enjoy music in the process of learning.
