In 2012, I graduated from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy with a concentration in piano. In 2015, I graduated with my Master of Arts degree in Ritual Chant Song from the University of Limerick in Ireland. I have been teaching private lessons for the last 6 years and began teaching in the public school system in spring of 2022. This fall, I will be a long-term substitute orchestra teacher for North Allegheny School District. My education at Duquesne was entirely focused on music education. I took various courses in instrument methodology for brass, woodwind, and string instruments, and studied leading pedagogy practices from distinguished educators. This small instrument is how we bagpipers learn, rehearse, memorize, and re-learn all music before attempting it and perfecting it on the full bagpipes. Bagpipers have to know what they are doing with their hands so when they add the full instrument, they are almost on "auto-pilot" and can focus on blowing good tone into the bagpipe. Read More
