If you don't know how to read music we can focus part of the lesson on music theory and the rest on learning from recordings and playing by ear. My teaching style aims to facilitate the students self-discovery of their own musical voice. The lesson plans and repertoire provide the tools to learn the concepts, time in lessons is aimed to develop technique and showing the student how to practice the concept in progress. My teaching style stems from my philosophy that music is a language. So my approach is focused on using the skills and knowledge while "speaking", or playing, with other musicians. That is why my approach is focused on jamming. After the student can understand how to make the instrument sound, I immediately give them the oppertunity to put their skills into practice.
