I started teaching in 2012, I took some time off after school and traveled to Shanghai-China. There I taught at Rubato Music, a private music studio. I gave lessons to children and adults, had my first experience introducing the instrument to novice students. I took notes from colleague and learned from more experienced teachers on ways to better explain/demonstrate lesson material. I have been playing the violin since I was 3, my father was my first violin teacher.  Music is a big part of my life and I do enjoy performing and teaching very much.  I love sharing my music knowledge with others, seeing my students making progress and achieving their goals is priceless and makes my life more worth living.  I have performed as violin soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster of orchestras, those are valuable experiences I had in life that I'd love to pass on to others.  I have also had student recitals every year in the past ten years, my students and I have toured and performed in China. With my youngest students I like to start note reading early to build a strong foundation. I often use the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1, or the Christopher Parkening Guitar Method Vol.1 2. Depending on the student's playing style, we may use other books or handouts as well. I also teach with guitar tab or tablature, which can be an easier way to start learning songs and riffs. I have been teaching for over 5 years. I began as a private lesson coach and have been consistenatly growing with students for around 7 years. As well as song and technical technique, my students and I also focus in on composition, songwriting, improvosition, discovery of sound and direction, and artistry. I combine both clossical and modern technique's and combine them into a personalized lesson and practice plan for the student. I believe in steady but fun practice out side of classes and encourage my students to run through pieces or excersizes around 5 times a day or for around 15 minutes. Read More
