For beginning students who are children, I use a variety of methods, including Hal Leonard's Children's Guitar Method, Suzuki methodologies (I am NOT a Suzuki-certified teacher), and materials I've developed over my 25 year teaching career. I emphasize basic technique for the left and right hands, and I make sure they learn the basics of reading music. For older students (middle school-age to adult), I tend to let the student lead. Trumpet students will learn to slurring, double and triple tonging technics, as well as transposing and how to write music. Read More

I even was lucky enough to have as a student a young lady who was crowned Miss Colorado. When I began teaching, students always came to my home. There was a time I was teaching 50 students and had to have two separate recitals-it was great! Read More
