I've been playing the violin since I was four years old, made my public debut at the Smithsonian when I was 6, and I've performed in numerous ensembles and with artists such as Andres Cardenes, Joseph Silverstein, Rachel Barton Pine, the St. Lawrence String Quartet and members of the Cavani String Quartet, to name a few. For teaching clarinet students who are beginners, I use the book authored by Texas Lutheran University clarinet professor, Paula Corley entitled "So You Want to Play the Clarinet". Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I usually move to the Rubank books because of their varied content. If the student is working with a school group, we will sometimes work on that repertoire, but improving technique in general is always my focus. Read More

Piano teaching has also given me the chance to work with wonderful families from around the world, and I have found that I often learn many things from my students, as they learn from me. Learning music has been a creative outlet, a great source of joy, and has provided me the confidence and skills to learn other subjects. My other music delight is composition, and I have written scores for my own esemble group to perform at weddings and events while also selling some online. I also wrote an arrangement for a fellow music teacher's ensemble to perform for their spring concert. Over the past 13 years, I have taught piano, music theory, and music composition to a diverse group of learners, including school-age children, college students, and adults of distinct backgrounds. From 2014-2018 I received the Graduate Teaching Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, where I led piano courses for non-Music majors, and held weekly recitations and office hours for required courses for Music majors. This encompassed instruction in counterpoint, musical form, harmonic analysis, training students on dictation and sight-singing, as well as providing help with digital audio software. Read More
