My methods vary from student to student. Everyone learns differently. Although i recommend learning how to read music, it is not required and there have been plenty of great drummers that do not read. A normal lesson consists of covering all aspects of learning an instrument. I approach every genre with a strong foundation in order to make repertoire more approachable, such as learning a variety of scales, developing good tone, and working on method or etude books to strengthen the range of possibilities on their instruments. For intermediate students I want to really forcus on text painting and understanding the words. Also we will continue building on basic skills learned as a beginning student.
