I believe all students can learn and enjoy music, it is just a matter of finding the way that speaks to them the most. I first began teaching music students in 2002, with my very first student being on guitar. Since then I've been priveleged to teach beginning guitar, beginning drums, and piano to students as young as 3 and as old as 60. I also worked at Gymboree Play n' Music where I taught music classes to children and their parents from 6 months old through 5 years old. While in college, I played gigs with my band in north and south Louisiana, directed music for contemporary worship services at various churches, led youth bands, and participated in the Centenary College's: Jazz Band (piano drums), Cantare Choir (voice), Wind Ensemble (percussion), Percussion Ensemble, and Chamber Orchestra (percussion). I earned my bachelors degree from Northwestern State University in music performance, and my masters degree in music performance from Louisiana State University. My education has culminated in an understanding of many musical styles from classical music and jazz in the double bass to funk, blues, and metal on the electric bass.
