Blake has performed as part of the Grammy Jazz Band, Jazz Band of America, Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, Iowa All-state Jazz Band, Iowa All-state Band, Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, The Symphony of Northern Arkansas and the Brubeck Jazz Colony. Blake recently graduated with his masters in trombone performance from the University of Arkansas where he served as a teaching assistant to the trombone studio. I had 3 years of piano performance experience when I was in a choir team and those were the most amazing times I have ever had. I joined a choir named Synctone Choir in 2009 and I have gone through vocal training for 3 years. There we had competitions and events like Acapella festivals. I grew up with a Pianist and Music Theory Professor as a mother; I learned to read music at the same time as I learned to read English. Music has never lost that early childhood sense of wonder for me, and so it's my primary goal to share that with others. More importantly, I want to help people of all ages develop their own musical voice and directive. So my teaching style is a combination of 2 things: Teaching a student how to practice (that is, improve their fundamental skill set towards mastery of an instrument) their instrument, and helping the student develop their musical identity and interests. I will help young students learn the basics of drumming from rudiments, technique, and sight-reading. For more advanced students I am able to guide them into more complex topics such as musical creativity, feel, and improvisation.
