For the absolute beginner, I generally, will start with the absolute basic foundation. This includes, correct posture, basic playing essentials, guitar setup and tuning. No one plays a guitar well when the strings are a half inch off the fretboard! So, I help my students get their guitar setup for optimum playability. I usually do this in the first or second lesson. Since I was inspired to play piano by ear after hearing a Mozart piano sonata when I was five, my love of music brought me to many places performing professionaly, whether it's a Dvorak trio, a big band standard, or a Daft Punk cover.  I began my formal training at the Cleveland Institute of Music for eleven years, while also studying violin, percussion, trumpet, and composing along the way.  Beginning by performing as a freelance accompanist, church organist, and teaching piano at Baldwin - Wallace College, I've gone on to play at the University of Connecticut Chamber Music Festival in 2009, and earned my Master's in piano performance in 2010. I teach a combination of Rote and verbal, conveying my ideas while playing as an example. I realized my passion for music when I was teaching forty clarinetists during a band camp. They caught on to my personality and knew I wanted the best for them. This ultimately drove them to be better musicians.
