Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Synthesizer Recorder
My approach is based largely on the intentions of the student. Beginner students will need a foundation to build on, that foundation will include singing, reading music, clapping rhythms, learning melodies, and free exploration for a fearless musical future. Older experienced students will be exposed to a More in depth view of the fundamental components of music, a particular group twelve crucial aspects that must work effortlessly in concert to create an impressionable musical experience. Instruments: Piano Flute Piccolo Keyboard
Developing a passion for music and having the confidence to perform is why I love my job. I love seeing my students achieve goals. I believe setting goals and accomplishing them are important, so I support my students until the end. Being able to perform and having the ability to capture an audience, first starts with the performer. I believe gaining confidence through an instrument is possible. I encourage students to tell me their goals and dreams so I can do my best to allow them to come true. Read More
Instruments: Piano
After starting piano performance at age 12 and music composition at age 14, I shortly graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2012 with a Music Composition/Theory degree and have composed nearly 4 hours of Symphonies, Concertos, Soundtracks, Jazz Combos, Woodwind Ensembles, Choral works, World musics, and other forms of Postmodernism. Since Post-Graduation, I've been taking composition lessons with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra composer William Hill, and is composing his Third Symphony. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums
Although I have taken several college classes in music -- everything from music theory to Garage Band (music software) -- most of my education as a musician, and as a music teacher, has come from real-life musicians! I've personally grown up with many excellent piano players, drummers and singers, so I've been taught by the best. My first love was piano, and currently I sing and play the drums in my church choir. Instruments: Drums
Unless you want to learn to play drums by yourself and never play in a band, playing without recorded music of some sort is pointless and counter productive. I have memorized tens of thousands of songs in all genres, and the combination of those drum parts has made me who I am today. We will sit down and determine who your favorite bands are, who your favorite drummers are, etc. Read More
Instruments: Clarinet
I picked up my Aunt's clarinet at 3 years of age -- and never put it back again. 27 years later, I continue to play in many different community bands and orchestras. The only thing I love more than playing music is teaching it. I have taught music in both charter schools and private lessons for the last 10 years and have a patient approach with my students. I believe that music should be fun and go out of my way to help my students find the fun in the lessons we are learning while customizing the lessons to them and their learning style. Read More
Instruments: Trombone
I always teach with patience, respect and positivity. I tailor each lesson to the needs of the student by asking them their goals and strategies on how to teach. I always play alongside the student, and I am always positive even when making suggestions on ways to help. Too many times I have experienced teachers that only tell students what is wrong with their playing and that they will never be good unless they do certain techniques. Read More
