Instruments: Guitar

By High School, I had already formed three bands, and composed & recorded a solo album on my own. In 2013, I started my music degree at the University of Colorado Denver, and graduated in 2018. I’ve learned many different instruments since I got involved in music, but guitar is my main instrument. However, what I find most gratifying about music is the combination of multiple instruments together, forming an arrangement. Although my goal is to let you lead the way as far as what you’d like to know, I believe that understanding how your instrument can be placed into the larger picture is a key aspect to learning music, and very enjoyable. Instruments: Piano

I like piano lessons to be enjoyable while still providing an atmosphere of learning. Exactly how a lesson unfolds varies from student to student in order to fit the needs and desires of each individual student. Each student and I will determine what pace works best for that student. We will also work together to determine how to construct our lessons so we can introduce new information in ways that best help that particular student understand the concepts. Read More

Music is one of my greatest passions. I enjoy helping others discover or rediscover their love of music through a sensible approach and truly attempt to craft my teaching style to fit the indiviudal needs of each student. I think music should be a form of both creative expression and enjoyment - never a means to feel frustration or pressure. I completed my degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2006 in music performance with an emphasis in jazz studies. Read More

As beginners, I recommend the first Hal Leonard Essential Elements Band books with EEi. The EEi feature allows students to access online features that coordinate with their private lessons and enhance their ability to learn. As students progress through the book, I add solo repertoire to the student's EEi account so they can both hear it played and record their own performance of each work of band music. Guitar students start with Essential Elements, piano students begin with Piano Adventures/Adult Piano Adventures, and both offer interactive online components which enhance the student's resources and ability to practice and learn between lessons. I typically start beginning students with the Alfred music book series. Once they've made sufficient progress, we move into a specific genre or two that they are most interested in. We learn about the style, and why it sounds the way it does. After we have a solid repitoire, students will be ready to perform! Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
