I took on my first student my junior year of college, and have taught students on and off since. I've taught guitar, ukulele, violin, and voice, but piano is what most of my students pursue. I do my best to make sure students are enjoying the instrument that they are handling, because if they don't enjoy it, why should they continue? I encourage performing opportunities, such as recitals and church performances, so that a student can become confident in their abilities, and be motivated to explore music beyond what I can teach them! Personally, I am more of a visual learner than I am an auditory learner, and that is reflected in my teaching style. I like using handouts when I teach guitar lessons, and I often refer back to them.
