I started playing the saxophone in the 5th grade. In 2011, I graduated from Miami University with Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. After working in education as a substitute teacher for 6+ years, I am pursuing a career change. However, I still have a deep passion for music and the saxophone. In addition to performing with local community ensembles, I enjoy working with beginning and improving musicians. The range of students I received throughout my four years there provided me with numerous pedagogical challenges and valuable insights into the psychology of teaching one on one with students. Additionally, I have taken master classes with principal flutists of the majority of the orchestras worldwide, as well as with the renown flutist Sir James Galway. My experience ranges from performing in Carnegie Hall to giving concerts throughout Europe, The Caribbean, Central South America, Mexico, Asia and in the US. I had one beginning piano student who wanted to learn "Fireflies" by Owl City, so her friends could sing it. So I wrote out the melody for her and then figured out chord progressions to accompany them. For beginning flute students, I use the Jump Right In series by Edwin Gordon. I use a variety of method books for drum set, mallet percussion, and snare drum, depending on the student's level and their area of interest. I also share exercises and approaches that I have picked up over the years from teachers and other sources, and I often create exercises on the spot to address the student's unique needs.
