I taught at the Goucher Summer Arts Institute and have continued to participate as a seasonal camp counselor for their jazz camp. For beginners students, I usually start with combination of James Bastien method and Alfred's Basic for theory session, then based on the instrument choose by the student I complement the class with other book used to play /practice the instrument.
