Instruments: Violin
I strive to create a relaxing and safe environment for students of all levels. I understand that everyone is different, so naturally all of my lessons will be different to each individual student. My teaching style will typically vary when considering factors like skill level and goals/interests. For beginner students, I will typically introduce them to new concepts and pieces of music to see what interests them. I will typically play alongside them often to help them develop an ear for correct intonation and technique. Read More

Hello! I teaching for over 10 years, 6 of them with my current studio. I started playing guitar when I was 11 years old and I've been taking lessons my entire life. (Yes, even still with professional musicians) I firmly believe that you never stop learning. There's always going to to be someone out there who has information or a perspective that can help you see things differently. I started out playing classic rock, blues, bluegrass, folk, metal - just about every style of music. Read More

I am an experienced piano and organ teacher with many years of music teaching and performance (solo and in groups). I have taught in student's homes and in commercial music studios. I have taught students from the very youngest (4 yrs) to the oldest (82 yrs). I have conducted piano classes in my home school district for the adult evening school for beginners and intermediate piano students. I am also a performer. Read More
Instruments: Voice
Recognizing that each student is unique, i.e., their instruments, learning styles, mental and emotional make-up, etc., I need to be flexible in how I work with each student. There is no one-size-fits-all! I work to understand each student's learning style and adapt my teaching accordingly. I ask a lot of questions, asking the student to think about their own learning style, what they are experiencing, hearing, and feeling. This not only gives me cues on how to better adapt my teaching style to them, but gets them thinking about what they are doing and reinforces their learning, which in turn helps them in their own practice by starting to become their own best teacher. Instruments: Trumpet Euphonium
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students develop a passion for music as well as realize how rewarding music can be. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this and nurture this by assigning exercises to each student for their specific goals. After achieving each goal I feel like they will be more eager to learn and motivated to succeed. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
It is important for both me and my student to have long-term and short-term goals. Long-term goals may have to do with technique--for voice, examples may be releasing tension or singing with proper breath support. Short term goals are more linked to repertoire and can be technical or musical. An example on the piano may be playing through a piece with a particular metronome marking. I have each of my students use a practice log so both the student and I can keep track of short-term goals. Read More
