I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I also worked as a clinician at the UAB Jazz Summit. Many of my students have gone on to play professionally and a few have gone on to become music teachers themselves. The most important aspect to teaching in my opinion is to make sure that the students remain engaged and excited enough to spend the time that will make them successful. Read More

Music is a art form as well as a true discipline thus I want to encourage consistency but most of all I want to stress artistry. Read More

I try to setup to allow students to learn at their own pace. I love seeing my students learn and reach their full potential. Finding out what motivates a student can help me customize their lessons. I acknowledge a student's progress and make lessons engaging to keep the students eager to learn. Encouraging the student to exceed their own benchmarks is a vital role I play as a instructor. Some students need additional work and practice which is fairly typical. Read More

These notes will be used in that lesson for a song we will be learning and also for his/her homework assignment for that week. I will also teach them to count for that song, so they are playing it correctly. For adults that are just starting is the same way, but if they are coming back playing again then I would help them on the level they are at, and we would pick up from there. Read More
