I am a voice teacher in the Chicago West Loop area. I am originally from Madison Wi, and I moved to Chicago earlier this year after Marrying my lovely husband, Brett. We have sang at churches across the midwest together. As a teacher I have taught at numerous institutions including Merit School of Music, Peoples School of Music, Children's Theater of Madison, and Stoughton Center for the Arts. I am a musical theater lover and love coaching musical theater music. Read More

My metropolitan way of studying starting in Europe, performing abroad, and coming to U.S. made my music views wider open for other styles of music. Starting from Folk music, Gypsy, Classic, Jazz, Latin; all these styles helped me to perceive new horizons in music. However, the main goal for an educator, in my opinion, is to help student to find his own way of expressing the music. To explain to students the main rules so later he/her can break them by reaching a higher level in music sense. Read More

My teaching experience began in the fall of 2010, when I started my college career. Since then I have been teaching private lessons and have also taught in group homes. I encourage short, frequent practice sessions with a variety or repertoire to keep students motivated. I am always looking to bring on new students of all ages! Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
For beginners, I advise them to purchase Essential Elements or another book of equivalent level, and we would be able to work through these basic exercises and melodies so that the student can learn fundamentals. I also ask beginners what song they would like to play, and I would transcribe the notes for them so that we can work towards something they want to achieve in the near future. For players who are intermediate level and above, I think it is important to point out what people do well, and then as a teacher provide feedback on how they can get better. Read More
Instruments: Drums
For beginners, after we learn the basics of the instrument, I employ a repertoire-based instruction model that has students bringing their favorite songs to me. I use this repertoire to teach important concepts, all while the students learns what they want to learn. As a student transitions into intermediate drumming, I start to introduce some technical exercises that will allow the student to grow into their own style and express themselves. Read More
Instruments: Piano
For beginning students, I usually start with The Rusian School of playing, book 1, combined with some easy traditional songs. When the student has progressed, I will begin to introduce classical repertoire. I'm always trying to choose the right compositions for my students, depending on their interests. Read More
Instruments: Guitar
I don't teach out of method books. I will write notes during the lesson and give them to the student, and sometimes give them websites to look up or other resources I feel would be helpful. I like to teach the student how to play songs from bands that they like, or whatever else they are interested in. I find that not having a book allows us the freedom to take the lessons in any direction that we want, without having to follow a set path. Read More
