My musical journey began when I was 12. I fell in love with the piano immediately. 3 years later I was working on my first instrumental album. My second piano teacher, Joan Gilbert, from Julliard School of Music helped me really uncover my raw talent in high school. This is the first time I trully was inspired and effectively motivated by a piano teacher. I had two teachers before that. I continued to write music, perform at recitals and provid music for church and school events. Read More

I teach the with Suzuki method. The Suzuki Method focuses on the Mother Tongue Method and was created by Dr. Sinichi Suzuki. He, and I, believe that every child is able to play music beautifully. The method emphasizes listening and parental involvement. I look to find the balance between challenge and enjoyment for each student. I enjoy working closely with the main violin parent and getting to know my students through our time together with the violin. Read More

The main objective that I personally strive for is to ensure that my students are properly recognized for their hard work. I've seen many instances when kids will stop participating in extracurricular activities due to lack of positive support from those they would expect it from. I believe that validation, especially from the parents, truly helps students maintain an interest in music. It helps them develop a personal drive to succeed not only in music, but in life. Read More

I teach my students to be self sufficient and to problem solve by themselves. By doing this it allows the student to make logical decisions and corrections in their own practice so they can establish routines of their own. I want all students to be able to evaluate their own performances so they can use their own individual practice time efficiently. I love seeing students find a musical solution to a problem on their own because it means that I’ve taught them to use their own knowledge for their own good. Read More

While living in New York, Memphis Jazz Workshop founder Stephen L. had the privilege of meeting and befriending several talented young musicians. Not long after meeting these young musicians, Lee noticed that they were operating at a higher skill level at a very young age compared to their counterparts. They were incredible performers who were hanging with jazz legends at world-renowned jazz clubs, and most were enrolled in performing arts schools. Read More

I first began giving lessons 7 years ago to family friends and have continued to give lessons since then. In college, I gave lessons to other students on campus. When I moved to Spain, I was a language instructor in addition to teaching music to students at the school. Spreading knowledge of music has always been a passion of mine because music is already such an important part of many people's lives. Read More

As the son of two teachers, I've seen first-hand how important great teaching can be in a young student's life. My first formal teaching experience came while working at Camp Laney--a summer camp for boys--during college. While there, I had the pleasure of working with students of varying ages and experience levels in guitar, voice, and even songwriting. I've also been a guest lecturer at Lausanne Collegiate School's occasional creative workshops. Read More
