Music Lessons in Apple Creek, OH

Instruments: Clarinet

I have been teaching since I was in Highschool, specifically tutoring younger kids while I was a senior. From there, I helped with sectionals while I was at Baldwin Wallace University. When I started at the University of Akron, I accepted a full Clarinet assistant ship, teaching private lessons to Undergraduate Clarinetists and coaching chamber music. Nothing brings me more joy to see my students learning something knew, struggling to learn a new concept and finally understanding it (i.e.- learning the proper way to breathe). Read More

For beginning students it is important to develop a sense of enjoyment in playing, as well as a sound grasp of the fundamentals. I encourage students to explore and even compose music that they enjoy and will help them grow as a musician. I find this to be a great way to motivate students to practice and make music fun as well as educational. Read More

I absolutely LOVE music!!! Let me say that first. I really enjoy playing, listening to, teaching, and learning about music. Most of my playing experience came from growing up in the church and playing in various school and extracurricular music groups. I currently play professionally but I enjoy giving back to students what others have given me over the years. I hope to do the same for my students. My favorite styles are rock, CCM, Contemporary Gospel, RB, Latin, and Pop/Electronica. Read More

I feel that I can develop a great rapport with students, and am able to relate to their musical interests no matter what their preferred style(s). Due to the extensive and varied experience I have gained, I am able to develop exercises and choose materials that are relevant to each individual student's needs and goals. My greatest reward is seeing my students gain confidence and the passion for making music that I have known throughout my life. Read More

I am very much a goal-oriented and visual person, so I like to set clear goals for my students. I like to get to know my students personally and create a more open relationship. Some students learn much quicker than others and that is okay! But, I do always encourage my students to progress using proper techniques to prevent burnout and any injuries. I am very flexible with my students and will always adapt to the way they learn best. Read More
