I am currently a graduate student studying Musicology at Rutgers University. My musical journey has been continuous ever since singing for the first time in my home church's youth choir. Studying piano and viola, performing on stage in musicals, and participating in choir invariably throughout grade school, I was finally lead to study classical music at Susquehanna University. For more advanced students I teach blues, classical, acoustic styles and help with songwriting. For students who are already in an instrumental program through school, I will start with whatever method book they are using at school, and branch off from there. Depending on the instrument, I will bring in another method book specific to that instrument book and we will also use some sort of etude book. Since obtaining my degree, I have taught music in many different capacities. I have worked with groups as well as individuals on all aspects of musicianship. I primarily perform my own compositions and am deeply passionate about the art of songwriting. I have my students provide me with a list of artist or bands that they enjoy listening to as well as songs from those artists that they are interested in learning.
