I approach every genre with a strong foundation in order to make repertoire more approachable, such as learning a variety of scales, developing good tone, and working on method or etude books to strengthen the range of possibilities on their instruments. My teaching style is very personal. I feel the need to truly know my students in order to best help them progress. I like for my students to be open about concerns and weaknesses in their abilities. I try to help them to analyze their own technique rather than have me tell them directly as this will help them to progress outside on the lesson and therefore more quickly. I take a big initiative to find out what kind of music my students listen to as well as what inspires them. I pride myself in my ability to create unique, individual lesson plans for my students. First, the student and I will have a consultation to discuss the specific goals and aspirations they have for their voice. After this discussion, we will create goals accordingly. Examples of materials we will examine are breath management, tone production, diction, enunciation, articulation, acting, speaking, theory and history.
