Since I was inspired to play piano by ear after hearing a Mozart piano sonata when I was five, my love of music brought me to many places performing professionaly, whether it's a Dvorak trio, a big band standard, or a Daft Punk cover.  I began my formal training at the Cleveland Institute of Music for eleven years, while also studying violin, percussion, trumpet, and composing along the way.  Beginning by performing as a freelance accompanist, church organist, and teaching piano at Baldwin - Wallace College, I've gone on to play at the University of Connecticut Chamber Music Festival in 2009, and earned my Master's in piano perormance in 2010. Shortly after, I  joined Musika, and I currently play piano and keyboard with the 338th Army Band.

I love teaching beginning and intermediate students in piano and woodwinds. I graduated early from Hiram College in 1993 with a degree in Instrumental Music Education. I have been proudly teaching general and instrumental music in the Cleveland Public Schools for the last seventeen years. I perform weekly as my church's organist and keyboardist for the Praise and Worship Team. I am currently attending Clevelans State to finish my Master's Degree in Instrumental Music Education.

For a beginner singer, I will most likely start by working with short familiar songs or warm ups to develop a consistant and beautiful tone. From there, I will work with the student towards repertoire that will be learned by applying the methods used in warm ups. I will always pay close attention to what the students' goal is, so that I am teaching repertoire and methods that are helpful in reaching those goals. I will always keep the students' heart in mind, so the lessons and repertoire are fulfilling and fun!

When teaching, I like to get to know just what my student is looking to achieve with these lessons. I include various handouts for the current lesson as well as next weeks lesson. It all depends on your level of playing. For beginners, I like to get you going on a number of finger exercises for both the right and left hands as well as an introduction to various simple chords that will allow you to start playing the basics quickly. For more advanced players, I will expand on a number of chord variations, picking and fingerboard speed techniques, songs, creating guitar solos using various scales in any key and so on.

Since my college career I was giving guitar lessons for students of many genre of music in which I specialized in jazz, and R&B. I held a large student base in wich most of the students had fun and inproved tremdously and went on to play professionly. If the students do not enjoy their experience in playing, I needed to find out what need to do to motivate them as an instructor. It's my job for the students to get the most out of their lesson's that they are spending their money on. I'd also encourage them to listen to other artist to get ideas to help them improve also.
