I first started teaching group lessons at a yoga studio where I was employed in the Spring of 2018. The popularity of those lessons was limited, but I found when I had students I enjoyed engaging with them one on one and discussing my craft. I quit my job at the yoga studio and committed my time to marketing myself as a guitar teacher instead. One of my main goals as a teacher is to get to know my student, how they best learn, and what it is they love about music. My own love for music and particular bands/genres is what gave me the drive to keep practicing, and I bring this same approach to each of my lessons. Nothing makes me more happy than to see one of my students getting excited about something they are playing--and because of this, I structure my lessons to maximize the aspects of music each student enjoys, while making sure to incorporate fundamental aspects of technique and music theory regardless of the particular music we are studying. We thrilled audiences in venues such as Sellersville and The State Street Blues Stroll. Lewis's next project was The Philly Rhythm Kings, a Gypsy Swing/Americana band, reaching into the the music of Django Reinhardt as well as American jazz and blues genres. It consisted of guitar, harmonica, bass and drums, with Lewis on guitar and vocals, harp virtuoso Seth Holzman, and a tight rhythm section. I have a love for teaching students of all levels and ages. My specialty as a guitarist is in jazz, but I bring that love for improvised music to a number of other styles: blues, rock, funk, acoustic/fingerstyle, country, folk, ska, reggae, RB etc. I graduated from Duquesne University in 2013 with a degree in jazz performance. Over the past decade, I have performed with dozens of ensembles of varying styles from jazz orchestras to rock outfits to more off-kilter projects.
