For young, beginning students, I typically start with teaching basic playing technique and note reading through simple songs, in order to ensure the student has a grasp of the fundamentals of playing and reading. After this point, I introduce chords and scales and more advanced songs, in order to further develop the student's playing and reading capabilities. From this point, I try to incorporate the student's personal musical interests into their lessons, fusing their own interests with methods of further developing their technical capabilities. All materials are presented in detailed, organized PowerPoint presentations, which serve as both teaching tools and reference materials for students. I understand that not all students aspire to become expert guitarists, and thats perfectly okay. I have students who prefer a more casual approach, focusing on learning songs rather than an in-depth curriculum. Whether you are dedicated to advancing your guitar skills and musicianship or simply wish to enjoy a leisurely hobby by learning a few songs, I will tailor your lessons and practice routine to suit your individual needs. My undergraduate degree in music education and my master's in performance helped me in forming a well-rounded view of the music world. I have been teaching 1-on-1 lessons for around 5 years in my own private studio, music stores, and different area schools. It is one of my favorite things to do and I take pride in the development of young musicians as well as those trying to find music later in their lives. Read More

I am a composer and arranger, so I also like to infuse some basic music theory and compositional/improvisational techniques into my lessons. In short, I am trying to foster new artists! Read More
