Being as humble as I can be, teaching is a privilege. I love that I'm able to offer great amounts of value to my students' lives! In my approach, I do my best to engage students with challenging questions in various capacities. I offer precise feedback. There's much we can learn from outside perspectives, and so I incorporate past experiences and insights coupled with colorful analogies for optimal growth. I also offer a diverse set of tools, that I myself employ, which makes practicing more efficient and enjoyable. Read More

I believe music should be a lot of fun. There should never be anything scary about learning something new to become a better person. I try to guide people through their musical journey as pleasantly as I can. That being said, hard work and perseverance are essential qualities for a beginning musician. Simply put, the more you put in, the more you'll get. I look forward to working with you. Read More

As a recent graduate of the Eastman School of music, I am dedicated to the arts and passionate about teaching students of all ages. I am a friendly, outgoing and motivating teacher who will work with each student individually to develop lesson plans that correspond to what they are hoping to learn. I am passionate about musical theatre and classical singing and have a wealth of knowledge in both styles. Read More

It is not necessary, however, to learn chords or grooves specifically from a book for these instruments. Depending on the desired style, there may not be much use of notated music, guitar tabliture, etc. But as already stated, this does not excuse a good foundation in reading music and understanding music theory. For more advanced players (who would most likely be percussionists if working with me, though I am willing to work with any instrument at a more advanced level), we would work out of books I and the student(s) find fitting for their skill level. I teach with a casual, approachable, student-based technique which brings about progress at the student's individual pace. I enjoy connecting with students' creativity as their skills grow and watching their ability to express themselves musically. Music is an art, and expression through music is an amazing personal experience. I receive great rewards in being a part of the journey as students discover a deeper sense of who they are and what they can communicate through this unique and amazing form of expression. Read More

Music is very much a personal subject unique to each person, and I create different lesson plans for every student I have. I have acquired a large amount of sheet music, textbooks, and other sources that I am happy to share with my students. Along with learning the technique of your instrument, I also place emphasis on teaching ear training, aural skills, basic music theory, and writing their own music. Read More

I started a band while I was in college and we were playing consistently up until March. In recent years I have found that many music lessons tend to boil down to the student practicing material given to them, and the teacher telling them if they played "good" or "bad." This process is repeated every lesson and an unfortunate number of students drop music. This is so sad to me, and I would like to help change this. Read More
