Hi! My name is Daniel and I have been teaching guitar for over 15 years. I started playing the guitar at a young age. I learned mainly by ear from the first year or two, and asked anyone I met who played to teach me anything they could. Once I knew the basic chords and could play a few songs, I began taking professional lessons. My teacher taught me how to develop my ear properly so I could learn what I wanted without any help. I Have been playing the guitar for 15 years and have been teaching for 10 years. From 2005 - 2008 I studied Guitar Performance and Music Theory at The Musicians Institute of Hollywood, CA. Over the years I have played and recorded with several bands including Slow Motion Rider, Ecstatic Union, Micah Brown Band and other small projects. In addition to playing with others, I have composed and recorded several of my own songs, playing all the instruments needed (Guitars, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Organ, Piano, Banjo, Ukulele, Hamonica, Auto Harp, other Percusssion, ect...). When it comes to children, I believe that structure is necessary. So, I usually assign arrangements from a book based on their skill level. In most cases, I use Hal Leonard books and move chronologically from beginner and onward. As students progress, I tend to shift more towards fundamental skills, like how to properly pick certain songs, how scales work, and how to build relevant chords. Eventually, all of this will summate to being a fully capable guitarist. Read More

I've been teaching steady for 6 years now at All about music and arts. I've had several students through the years; young and older. From students who are new to music (starting from zero). Some who been playing for years and who wants to expand or understand how music theory can benefit them. I know that that the concept of theory may seems daunting and difficult. However I find it really depends on how you explain it. Read More

Method or style technique used will always depend on the preference and requirements of the student. It will also depend on the style of music. For example, classical guitar requires perfection of technique for good execution. This requires practice of scales, arpeggios and such. However, if the student is older and just wants to be able to strum a few chords then that requires a different approach where we focus on simple technique and work on things like rhythm or posture etc. Read More

I use methods from the Berkeley School of Music and years of studying with private teachers. I will begin with the essentials of learning guitar, learn how to sit and hold the guitar, tune the guitar and play your first melodies! Learn how to read guitar tablature. learning to play single notes, beginner guitar chords, 4 essential strumming patterns, changing chords etc. After the basics are mastered we will move through playing lead guitar to improvising with C-A-G-E-D theory and playing advanced lead guitar licks.
