For beginning students I start with a simple five note scale, how to hold or sit with the instrument, and an easy tune such as mary had a little lamb or happy birthday; Some students get that in the first lesson and some take a couple weeks everyone has their own process. I received my BFA from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis studying with award-winning composer Judith Lang-Zaimont and passionately pursuing jazz and classical guitar performance.

We sent students to perform at Terminal 5 in New York City where they performed alongside members of the rock group Living Color. Students also performed at famed venues such as the Ridgefield Playhouse and the Spaceland Ballroom. In 2015 I was accepted to SUNY Purchase’s Studio Composition Graduate Program which took me away from my job at School of Rock.
