My teaching style is to engage students through the history and love of music and to help them understand the fundamentals of music theory. As the students progresses i will slowly introduce more advance material through the lessons. I will help the student grow and progress and help engage them on the infinite combination of the 12 notes on the instrument. I will send the student home with material to practice because in order to become a better musician you have to practice to develop your skills Read More

But with everything I teach, I am able to relate back to theory. I show students how to practice effectively to build their chops. And I of course I can instruct the students how to read and write music, with proper technique. I also have an educated background with Theory and Ear Training, all of which I pass on to all my students. I care very much about my students and love to see them excel! Read More

First and foremost, I want to know what your goals are! I have proven methods to make the fundamentals fun, and as you progress we will get deeper into music theory so that you will attain a wide array of knowledge that you didn't even know existed! I like to push my students to push themselves, practice what they are interested in and expand their musical palette! The most important thing is to have fun! Read More

I like to find out why my students are interested in playing music. This helps me to create a lesson plan for each individual one. I like to start out teaching using Alfred's beginner books, and progress from there. Each student learns at a different pace, so I base my lessons off of their progress. I have found that doing this helps keep the student motivated and encouraged in the process of learning their given instrument. Read More

I encourage small but daily practice. you don't have to play guitar for 4 hours a day to make good progress. Just 15 minutes every day will be sufficient especially when you first start out. It is deeply satisfying when i see a student grasp a concept that they worked so hard on. set realistic goals and don't try to overwhelm yourself by trying to play extremely difficult music in a short amount of time. basics is key if you know the basics you can do the harder things and with ease. The most satisfying moment as a teacher is when a student finally "gets it", and for students, I find that lessons are the most fun when the student feels capable and not overwhelmed. I like to challenge my students and encourage them to exceed even their own expectations of their abilities. With this in mind, my overall teaching philosophy emphasizes gaining technical mastery over the student's chosen instrument, strong music reading and theory skills, along with creativity and improvisation to turn them into well rounded players who can hold their own in just about any music setting from the stage to the studio.
