I moved to Sioux Falls and taught in the Catholic School System for a number of years. I whole heartily believe that this is the fastest way to severe a student's relationship with creating music. I began teaching music at the age of 15, primarily guitar and piano lessons for beginners ages 7-14 in my hometown of Parker, CO. At 16 I began teaching my students basic music theory and intermediate instrumental instruction. I moved to Boston in 2012 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, still actively teaching throughout my curriculum. I use a large number of methods. However, the chosen method or path is highly dependent on each students age, experience, musical interests, and allotted time for daily practice and study. Regardless, I suggest implementing a full curriculum encompassing study of repertoire, technique, musicality, theory, and music history for each student.
