I am a fun loving and patient instructor who enjoys seeing my passion for music spread to different people. In 2012 I earned a Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in music from Northern Arizona University, and went on to complete a Masters degree in Music Therapy from Arizona State University. I have experience performing in academic orchestras, choirs, and guitar ensembles, as well as with song writing and performing in local bands. Read More

I like to see where each student is in terms of what there level and understanding of music is. I like to know what your goals are and adapt my style to help you achieve them. I will usually break up each lesson into 3 parts. Chord theory, scale theory, and technique. The technique section can cover several different playing techniques as well as an emphasize on the ones your most interested in. Read More

I started playing acoustic folk styles in 1962 and added 60's rock and more as time went on. I joined my first rock band in 1965 and have now played all styles of rock, blues, folk, country, bluegrass, jazz, and contemporary Christian and worship music. I also play and teach bass and other stringed fretted instruments, keyboards, and drums and percussion. I began teaching private music lessons in 1968 and began teaching professionally in 1989 at AZ Bible College. Read More

Hello! I'm a professional, full-time musician. I studied music and performed through high school and college. Professionally I've been performing for over 30 years, and teaching music privately for over 15 years. I perform primarily in Arizona, but have performed elsewhere in the U.S., and in Mexico as well. As a teacher, my primary goal is to pass on love of music by helping you learn whichever instrument you choose. I'll help you learn ways to strengthen and enhance your skills, and even help you prepare for performance if you wish. Read More

With young students, I allow myself to be a bit more comprehensive in that I can start from the very basics from the beginning and even come up with simple games with rhythm, basic ear training and reading notation. The big challenge with young players is the actual act of physically playing the guitar and I encourage parents to invest in a quality instrument that is easy to play. I try and get my older children and teenagers to try and play as early as possible to develop a passion for the instrument, but not before building an understanding of the basics. Read More

Anybody can learn a few chords but its about how you play those chords and riffs. I'm a firm believer that as guitarists we are to internalize the music. If a guitarist doesn't feel what he's doing then why would the crowd? I'm also a positive reinforcement type of person in general. Regardless of what it is, people need to be encouraged. Playing guitar, even for somebody who is completely in love with playing, can be extremely frusterating at times. Read More

High school students will work out of the Blue Standards of Excellence book for their freshman and sophomore year; along with a more advanced packet of warm up and scale exercises that I received from the ASU clarinet studio and my current clarinet professor Jeff Quamo. Junior year and senior year students will be expected to know at least 80% of the circle of 5ths and they'll begin to start playing etudes out of the Rose Etude book along with studying farther into the warm-up and practice packet.
